Mac Miller Reportedly Signs $10 Million Deal With Warner Bros
Mac Miller and his Remember Music imprint have found a new home with Warner Bros.
Mac
Miller proved that a rapper can be successful as a completely
independent artist, paving the way for artists like Macklemore who found
similar benefits doing things on their own. This makes news that Mac
has signed with Warner Bros. an even bigger deal, making this his first
ever pairing with a major label.
According
to FADER, Mac will take his indie label, Remember Music to Warner as an
imprint. Under this new deal he will release both his own records, and
those of the artists he chooses to endorse. The whole package is rumored
to be worth $10 million.
Mac commented on his decision to sign in an email.
“Warner
is the most independent thinking company I met with… It is a
partnership and now I can focus on building my label Remember through
music and let them handle everything I don’t like doing. Nothing will
change in how I do things,” he said, making a good point, “They have Prince.”
Mac also released a new single to celebrate the announcement.
